(SOLD) Hawthorn Yamadori #10

$1,145.00

Crataegus Monogyna, known as common hawthorn or single-seeded hawthorn, is a species of Hawthorn native to Europe, northwest Africa and western Asia. It has been introduced in many other parts of the world. It is classed in NZ as a invasive species.

This tree was lifted by myself in September of 2015. I found this tree in the Mokorua Native Reserve hills behind Whakatane.

The tree stands 72cm high from current substrate and the base of the trunk is 18cm across at widest point, giving the tree some amazing taper!

This tree has had a great 2 years of growth since lifting, putting out a large amount of arm length extensions. No doubt it has taken well to potted life well. I’ve fully wired the tree three times since lifting, carved and treated the chop-wounds. Because of the adverse conditions it was growing in its starting to boast amazing craggy mature bark and brilliant movement as result. That Curve!!!

In my opinion this tree is all lined up to have a very well-founded beaming future, sublime yamadori elegance!
